Since my earlier post about the old TBWA Chiat Day offices and ?What If!’s current innovation space, lots has turned up on this topic in the blogosphere; opinions run the gamut from ‘shared space will make you stressed out and sick’ to ‘it depends on what workers think about their workspace and if it meets their individual needs’.
As with so many other issues, the answers lie somewhere in between. I will say that the open innovation spaces I have visited since the TBWA days are often beautiful. Here’s some thinking behind what was created for Philips Electronics in North America. The Innovation Space for the Home Health Care division in Andover was modeled after this design thinking and it looks great.
What do you think? In what kind of innovation space would you like to work? And is this driven mostly by your aesthetics or what you do for a living?
