Q: What is your role at Intelligent Product Solutions?
Senior Director, Marketing and Communications. I am responsible for all marketing and PR for the company and with my team, provide marketing services to clients.
Q: What is Intelligent Product Solutions? What services does the company offer?
Intelligent Product Solutions is a full service product development company providing design and engineering services for the “productization” of advanced and emerging technologies. Services include complete offerings in UX/UI, industrial design, mechanical, electrical and optical engineering, embedded systems architecture, software application development, IT services and cloud product development.
Q: Who are some of your clients and what projects did you work with them on?
L3 Communications – the ProVision 2 airport people scanner, Motorola (now Zebra Technologies) HC1 Headset Computer, Nixie – wearable personal cell phone camera drone, AdhereTech – smart pill bottle
Q: Who is your ideal client?
Our ideal client has really juicy tech or innovation problems to be solved.
Q: What exactly is “the Internet of Things?”
The Internet of Things is a new name for technology that in part, has been around for quite some time. It uses sensors, communication protocols (e.g. Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.) and cloud-based data services to deliver customized information that is of value to individuals and enterprises.
The Internet of Things is the interconnection of computing devices across the internet. If done right it will offer advance connectivity and reporting of the connected device.
Q: Why does it matter?
IoT matters more than ever because of the new technologies, like the cloud that are enabling massive use of the technology. Advanced data services exchanges like wot.io are taking the friction out of delivering rich, customized information to businesses and individuals. What’s different now compared to, let’s say even a couple of years ago, is the fact that IoT technology is on the verge of massive deployment.
Q: What are some products that fall under “the Internet of Things?”
All the smart home appliances that allow you to control your home from your mobile phone, smart thermostats, biochip transponders on farm animals, cars with telematics and solar panel companies are using IOT to manage the data from the panels.
Q: What other product trends are you predicting for 2015?
Not really a trend but more of a way of thinking. You will now see more and more Manufactures start adding sensors in to their products to at least be able to play in the IOT world. It is still too early to tell the complete directions. There are some exciting companies like WOT.IO, a company which is a data service exchange(TM) for connected device platforms — enabling IoT & M2M customers the ability to unlock the full value of their IoT data.
